Capstone's Introduction and Basics (4-5weeks)
During this module we focus on Fiore Dei Liber Segno diagram (Refer below) to assist us with gaining insights into important concepts and fundamentals of swordplay which is generic to all weapon forms and SCA combat fields.
We discuss and workshop various fundamentals by first studying the “Elephant and Tower” and how it related to combat. We need move onto the “Lynx and the Dividers” and how the Elephant and Lynx related to one another. While important knowledge and basic skills gained within this module is important we also learn the langue which will be used within the School.
Everyone is expected to undertake this Module at least once (twice is better) and Journeyman approaching Provost level should be able to run this Module without assistance.
Basics covers:-
- Symbolism within the Segno diagram.
- Basic footwork, stances and balance and the effects a sword has on them.
- How to maintain control of a sword while its in motion (shot and return).
- Timing and distance.
- The terms and language used in Capstone's classes.
