'How Capstone conducts itself'

When a student undertakes any form of martial arts it's important to learn and appreciate the difference between “Training” and “Practice” and maintain a balance of each. At Capstone's we achieve this balance by dividing our sessions into either Training or Practice depending upon the students needs.

Training involves learning the basic theory, concepts and techniques and reinforcing these fundamentals skills and knowledge by repetition and drill work. All of our Training sessions focus on core fundamentals and techniques and are designed to develop and improve the student's skills and understanding of combat.

Practice is the time to put the skills and knowledge learnt during Training into action via any of the various SCA's combat forms.

Capstone's runs various modules designed to focus on a particular weapon form or combat systems. Using a modular system allows us to ability to cover a broader range of topics. Once or twice a year we will run our “Fundamentals of Swordplay” module which covers important basic concepts. This session will be run when and as required but will only be run twice a year.

On special occasion Capstone's will import specialized presenters to conduct weekend workshop on a particular weapon form or combat system.

For details of our sessions pls refer to our Modular page and calendar below.
